Choose Allowed Joomla Groups for a Workspace

This article shows how to assign the audience for a Workspace, understand Basic one-group limits and Pro+ multi-group capability, and test inherited Joomla group membership rather than relying on visual assumptions.

How to do it

  1. Edit the Workspace and scroll to Allowed user groups.
  2. Click Add Group and choose the Joomla group that should enter the Workspace.
  3. Select the group’s Workspace role: Upload Only, Viewer, Contributor, Editor, Manager, or Custom Permissions.
  4. Add more group rows when different Joomla groups need different capabilities.
  5. Save, then test both an allowed account and an account outside all listed groups. Groups not listed have no Workspace access.

Verify the result

  • An allowed normal account can open the intended Workspace.
  • An account outside the allowed rules cannot use the Workspace/action.
  • Connection overrides and source/destination permissions behave exactly as configured.

Important limits and mistakes to avoid

  • A successful Super User test does not prove a normal Joomla group has correct Workspace access. Test with the real role.

Troubleshooting

  • If an action is missing/denied, check Joomla menu access, Workspace allowed group, Workspace role, custom denies, connection override, and plan gate separately.
