Claim or Assign an Unassigned Ticket
This guide shows the assignment control, selecting yourself or another eligible Agent, entering an assignment reason, and confirming the timeline/update.
Where this fits in QC Support Ticket
The Agent Queue is a frontend support workspace, not a shortcut around permissions. Every ticket action is checked against the Agent’s active QCST record and Department scope on the server, including assignment, replies, status/priority changes, attachments, bulk actions, and advanced ticket operations.
Primary location: QC Support Ticket frontend Agent Queue.
Before you begin
- Use a normal Frontend Agent account for verification. Testing only as Joomla Super User can hide Department-scope or menu-access problems.
How to do it
- Open an unassigned ticket in Agent Queue.
- Use the assignment control and select yourself or another eligible Agent whose Department scope includes the ticket.
- Enter an assignment reason when the interface requests/allows it.
- Save the assignment.
- Confirm the assignee changes and an assignment/history entry appears in the ticket timeline.
Verify the result
- The test Agent can open the Agent Queue and see allowed-Department tickets.
- The same Agent is denied or does not receive tickets outside the configured Department scope.
Assignment does not define visibility
Claiming or assigning changes responsibility for the ticket. Eligible Agents in the same Department can still have queue visibility according to their scope and filters, while an Agent outside the Department remains unauthorized even if someone attempts to select that user as an assignee. The assignment history entry is useful for understanding handoffs later.
Claiming versus assigning another Agent
Claiming is the self-assignment case: the current eligible Agent takes responsibility for an Unassigned ticket. Assigning to another person requires that target Agent to be eligible for the ticket Department. In both cases, confirm the assignment/history entry after saving so later staff can see who took ownership and when.
