Write a Public Reply as an Agent
This guide walks through the reply form, Public reply message type, optional canned response/signature/attachments, posting, and customer notification.
Where this fits in QC Support Ticket
The Agent Queue is a frontend support workspace, not a shortcut around permissions. Every ticket action is checked against the Agent’s active QCST record and Department scope on the server, including assignment, replies, status/priority changes, attachments, bulk actions, and advanced ticket operations.
Primary location: QC Support Ticket frontend Agent Queue.
Before you begin
- Use a normal Frontend Agent account for verification. Testing only as Joomla Super User can hide Department-scope or menu-access problems.
How to do it
- Open the ticket in Agent Queue and scroll to the reply composer.
- Set Message type to Public reply.
- Write the reply, optionally insert an allowed canned response and review/edit the resulting text. Add the Agent signature/attachments when appropriate.
- Submit the reply.
- Verify it appears as a public timeline message and, when email is enabled, the requester receives the corresponding notification.
What the customer receives
A public Agent reply becomes part of the customer-visible conversation and can trigger the applicable reply notification. It is different from a Pro Internal Note, which remains staff-only. Before posting, verify that internal troubleshooting text, credentials, or staff-only context has not been placed in the public reply box.
Post-reply check
- Send a short controlled reply as a normal Frontend Agent.
- Open the same ticket from the customer Support Portal.
- Confirm the reply appears in the public conversation with the expected author/time presentation.
- Check the delivery diagnostic if an email notification was expected.
Verify the result
- The test Agent can open the Agent Queue and see allowed-Department tickets.
- The same Agent is denied or does not receive tickets outside the configured Department scope.
