Create the Support Portal and Agent Queue Joomla Menu Items

This guide shows the two current menu-item types, recommended Joomla Access settings, and how to test each route with the correct account type.

Where this fits in QC Support Ticket

QCST separates customer access, frontend support work, and Joomla administrator configuration. A QCST Frontend Agent can work tickets in the Agent Queue without being granted Joomla backend administration, while administrator actions remain governed by Joomla ACL and QCST-specific permissions.

Primary location: Joomla Administrator → Menus → your frontend menu → New/Edit Menu Item.

Before you begin

  • Use a normal Frontend Agent account for verification. Testing only as Joomla Super User can hide Department-scope or menu-access problems.

How to do it

  1. Open Menus in Joomla Administrator and choose the frontend menu that should contain support access.
  2. Create a menu item of type QC Support Ticket → Support Portal. Give it the Joomla Access level intended for customers and publish it.
  3. Create a second menu item of type QC Support Ticket → Agent Queue. Restrict its Joomla Access level to the group(s) appropriate for support staff; QCST Agent authorization is still checked separately.
  4. Sign in as a normal customer and open the Support Portal. Confirm the customer sees only the customer dashboard/tickets permitted to that account.
  5. Sign in as a Joomla user that has an active QCST Frontend Agent record and open Agent Queue. Confirm the queue contains only Departments in that Agent's QCST scope.

Verify the result

  • The test Agent can open the Agent Queue and see allowed-Department tickets.
  • The same Agent is denied or does not receive tickets outside the configured Department scope.
