QC Support Ticket Requirements Before Installation
This article covers supported Joomla/PHP expectations, Joomla Mail, Scheduled Tasks, PHP IMAP for inbound mail, writable protected storage, and recommended backup/test preparation.
Where this fits in QC Support Ticket
QCST separates customer access, frontend support work, and Joomla administrator configuration. A QCST Frontend Agent can work tickets in the Agent Queue without being granted Joomla backend administration, while administrator actions remain governed by Joomla ACL and QCST-specific permissions.
Primary location: Joomla Administrator → Components → QC Support Ticket.
Before you begin
- Take a current backup and use a test or low-risk record first when the action can change or remove routing, relationships, or installed files.
Current requirements
| Requirement | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Supported Joomla / PHP | Use the platform versions supported by the current QCST 1.0.42 package and QuantaCade release requirements. |
| Joomla Mail | All QCST notification/template delivery depends on Joomla Mail transport. |
| Joomla Scheduled Tasks | Required for entitlement revalidation and unattended email/reminder/mailbox/report work. |
| PHP IMAP | Required only when Max inbound mailboxes are used. |
| Writable protected storage | Ticket attachments must be stored/served through QCST protection rather than a public upload URL. |
| Backup and test accounts | Back up before install/upgrade and use one normal customer plus one Agent account for end-to-end testing. |
Current-version note
This documentation is based on QC Support Ticket 1.0.42, the package currently deployed on the QuantaCade production site. The behavior described for QC Support Ticket Requirements Before Installation should be checked against the current screen labels before applying instructions to an older QCST release.
Pre-installation checklist
| Requirement | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Joomla / PHP | Use a currently supported Joomla/PHP environment and complete Joomla database/system maintenance before adding a support system. |
| Joomla Mail | Configure and test Joomla Mail before relying on QCST notifications or guest verification. |
| Scheduled Tasks | Confirm Joomla Scheduled Tasks can run; for reliable low-traffic sites use server CRON rather than traffic-only Lazy Scheduler. |
| PHP IMAP | Required only when you plan to use Max inbound email mailboxes. |
| Filesystem | Joomla must be able to write QCST protected storage and the media verification location used for Authorized-Domain checks. |
| Backup / test plan | Take a current site/database backup and prepare normal customer + Frontend Agent test accounts. |
Production note
The current production baseline used for this documentation is QCST 1.0.42 on Joomla 6.1.3/PHP 8.3.33. Do not interpret that snapshot as a permanent minimum-version promise; check the package requirements/current QuantaCade release before installing on a different environment.
