Understand Base Tier, Effective Tier, All Access, and Max Preview in QCST
This article explains Base versus Effective tier and what happens when All Access or the preview grants temporary Max behavior.
Where this fits in QC Support Ticket
QCST separates customer access, frontend support work, and Joomla administrator configuration. A QCST Frontend Agent can work tickets in the Agent Queue without being granted Joomla backend administration, while administrator actions remain governed by Joomla ACL and QCST-specific permissions.
Current 1.0.42 releases resolve paid access from the site’s Authorized Domain. The one-time 30-Day Max Preview is explicit: installing, opening, or refreshing QCST does not start an untouched preview; only the Start 30-Day Max Preview action begins the clock.
Primary location: Joomla Administrator → Components → QC Support Ticket → Settings → Entitlement & Authorized Domain.
Base versus Effective tier

| Effective Tier | The feature level QCST may use now after Base entitlement, All Access or an active Max Preview is resolved. |
| All Access | Can provide Effective Max for the product without rewriting the underlying Base tier. |
| 30-Day Max Preview | Temporary Effective Max for an eligible installation; the original start/end remain server-authoritative. |
Important behavior and limits
- QCST 1.0.42 uses Authorized Domains for current entitlement; customers do not paste a current license key into Joomla.
- The one-time 30-Day Max Preview starts only from the explicit administrator action and requires a healthy canonical Entitlement Revalidation task.
How the tier values relate

| 30-Day Max Preview | Temporarily raises Effective tier to Max without replacing the underlying Base tier; it is explicit and one-time. |
Example
A Basic Authorized Domain with an active one-time Max Preview can display Base tier Basic and Effective tier Max. When that preview ends, QCST falls back to the valid underlying entitlement rather than deleting Max-created configuration. Locked features become unavailable while preserved settings/data remain available again if access returns.
