Add a Frontend Agent by Searching for a Joomla User
This guide shows the current on-demand name/email/username search, selecting the Joomla account, and saving QCST Agent access without granting Joomla backend access.
Where this fits in QC Support Ticket
Departments answer “who handles this ticket”; Categories answer “what kind of issue is this.” Agent Department scope controls ticket authorization, while Category scope controls which classifications are offered for a selected Department. Keeping those concepts separate makes routing predictable.
Primary location: Joomla Administrator → Components → QC Support Ticket → Settings → Organization and Ticket Setup.
Before you begin
- Use a normal Frontend Agent account for verification. Testing only as Joomla Super User can hide Department-scope or menu-access problems.
How to do it
- Open Settings → Frontend Agents and choose Add Agent.
- Use the current Joomla user search and type part of the person's name, email address or username.
- Select the correct existing Joomla account; QCST Agent access does not create a new Joomla account and does not grant Joomla Administrator access.
- Choose All Departments or the exact Department scope the Agent needs, then save.
- Sign in as that user and open the frontend Agent Queue to confirm both access and scope.
Important behavior and limits
- Frontend Agent access never substitutes for Joomla Administrator access; Agents work from the frontend Agent Queue and are re-scoped by department server-side.
Verify the result
- The test Agent can open the Agent Queue and see allowed-Department tickets.
- The same Agent is denied or does not receive tickets outside the configured Department scope.
Choosing the correct Joomla user
QCST searches existing Joomla accounts; it does not create a new Joomla user from the Agent form. When names are similar, confirm email address and username before selecting the account. If the intended person does not exist in Joomla yet, create/manage that account through the normal Joomla user workflow first, then return to Frontend Agents and add the QCST role/scope.
