Configure QCST Portal and Ticket Settings
This guide walks through guest-ticket enablement, attachment policy, ticket reference prefix/padding/next number, display time zone, and overdue threshold.
Where this fits in QC Support Ticket
Departments answer “who handles this ticket”; Categories answer “what kind of issue is this.” Agent Department scope controls ticket authorization, while Category scope controls which classifications are offered for a selected Department. Keeping those concepts separate makes routing predictable.
Primary location: Joomla Administrator → Components → QC Support Ticket → Settings → Organization and Ticket Setup.
How to do it
- Open Settings → Portal and Ticket Settings.
- Decide whether Allow verified guest tickets should be enabled. Leave it off if every requester must authenticate with Joomla.
- Set the global attachment maximum size and allowed extensions. These are the outer limits for normal ticket/reply uploads; File Upload Ticket Fields can impose tighter field-specific limits.
- Set the Ticket reference prefix, number padding and next number for future tickets. Do not expect this to rewrite references already issued.
- Choose the Ticket display time zone and Overdue threshold (hours). The time zone is presentation/reporting context; it does not move stored event instants.
- Save, submit one test ticket and check its reference, displayed dates, attachment acceptance and overdue reporting behavior.
Key fields and behavior
| Item | Current behavior |
|---|---|
| Allow verified guest tickets | Enables guest submission/verification flow |
| Maximum attachment size (MB) | Global protected website attachment ceiling, 1–100 MB |
| Allowed extensions | Global website attachment extension allowlist |
| Ticket reference prefix | Letters, numbers, hyphens, underscores; default QCST |
| Number padding | 1–12 digits; 6 yields 000001 |
| Next ticket number | Applies to the next new ticket only |
| Ticket display time zone | Converts stored UTC times for administrators/customers/agents |
| Overdue threshold (hours) | 1–8760; open tickets without a due date use this threshold |
Verify the result
- Guest, attachment, ticket-reference, time-zone and overdue settings show the values you saved after a reload.
- A new disposable ticket uses the current reference/attachment/intake settings while existing ticket references remain unchanged.
