Configure Ticket Display Time Zone and the Overdue Threshold

This article explains the display-only timezone choice, overdue-hours behavior used in reporting, and how to verify dates/totals after a change.

Where this fits in QC Support Ticket

Portal and Ticket Settings control cross-cutting behavior such as guest intake, protected attachment policy, ticket reference numbering, display time zone and overdue reporting. These settings affect new ticket behavior or presentation without redefining Department/Agent authorization.

Primary location: Joomla Administrator → Components → QC Support Ticket → Settings → Organization and Ticket Setup.

How to do it

  1. Open Settings → Portal and Ticket Settings.
  2. Choose the Ticket display time zone that staff/customer presentation should use.
  3. Set the Overdue threshold (hours) to the age at which eligible open work is counted as overdue in QCST reporting.
  4. Save and compare a known ticket's displayed timestamps plus the Tickets-tab overdue total before/after the change.

How time and overdue calculations differ

SettingBehavior
Ticket display time zoneTicket times are stored in UTC and converted for administrator/customer/Agent display using the configured presentation choice.
Overdue threshold (hours)Allowed range is 1–8760 hours; the configured age is used for eligible open tickets that do not have a specific due date.
Ticket due dateWhen an open ticket has its own due date, that specific due date takes precedence for overdue evaluation.

Verification example

Use one open test ticket without a due date and, if your workflow supports due dates, one with a known due date. After saving the settings, compare displayed timestamps and the Tickets-tab overdue count. The change should affect presentation/calculation only; it should not alter the stored conversation timestamps themselves.

Time-zone changes do not rewrite history

QCST keeps stored times in UTC and applies the configured display time zone when presenting dates. Changing the display choice should therefore change how the same stored event is shown, not create a new event or alter its actual instant. When investigating a time discrepancy, compare one known ticket event before and after the display setting rather than editing database timestamps.
