Link Two Related Tickets
This guide walks through Ticket Relationships, entering the related ticket reference or internal ID, choosing the Related relationship, adding an optional note, saving, and verifying the relationship from both tickets.
Where this fits in QC Support Ticket
QCST keeps the customer conversation, private staff notes, and system workflow history distinct. Public replies can be shown to the customer; Pro Internal Notes remain staff-only; system timeline entries document events such as assignment, status, relationship, merge, or split operations.
Primary location: QC Support Ticket Agent Queue ticket detail, with global attachment/settings controls under Settings.
Before you begin
- Confirm the site currently has Max / All Access effective access before expecting the controls described here. A preserved configuration may still exist after downgrade even when the feature is locked.
How to do it
- Open the Max ticket relationship controls on one ticket.
- Enter/select the other ticket by valid ticket reference/internal identifier.
- Choose relationship type Related and add an optional note explaining the connection.
- Save.
- Open both tickets and verify the relationship is visible/navigable without either timeline being combined.
Important behavior and limits
- Public replies are customer-visible; Pro Internal Notes remain staff-only. System timeline entries record workflow events separately from the conversation.
- Attachments are stored outside normal public delivery and are streamed only after QCST rechecks ticket authorization.
What a related-ticket link means
Linking tickets records a relationship between two existing tickets so Agents can navigate related work. It does not combine their conversations, ownership, attachments, statuses or references. Use it when both cases should remain independent but staff need the connection visible.
Before linking
- Verify both ticket references are the intended cases.
- Make sure the relationship is useful to Agents and does not expose another customer’s ticket to an unauthorized customer interface.
- After saving, open each Agent-side ticket and confirm the relationship points to the correct counterpart.
Verify the result
- Each Agent-side ticket shows the intended relationship to the other ticket.
- Neither ticket’s requester, conversation, attachments, Status or reference is merged merely by linking them.
