Unlink a Ticket Relationship
This guide shows removing a relationship without deleting either ticket or its timeline.
Where this fits in QC Support Ticket
QCST keeps the customer conversation, private staff notes, and system workflow history distinct. Public replies can be shown to the customer; Pro Internal Notes remain staff-only; system timeline entries document events such as assignment, status, relationship, merge, or split operations.
Primary location: QC Support Ticket Agent Queue ticket detail, with global attachment/settings controls under Settings.
Before you begin
- Confirm the site currently has Max / All Access effective access before expecting the controls described here. A preserved configuration may still exist after downgrade even when the feature is locked.
How to do it
- Open the ticket relationship list on either linked ticket.
- Choose the unlink/remove action for the specific relationship.
- Confirm the removal.
- Verify both tickets and their timelines still exist; unlinking removes only the relationship.
Important behavior and limits
- Public replies are customer-visible; Pro Internal Notes remain staff-only. System timeline entries record workflow events separately from the conversation.
- Attachments are stored outside normal public delivery and are streamed only after QCST rechecks ticket authorization.
Unlinking is not deletion
Removing a related-ticket link deletes the relationship only. Each ticket keeps its own reference, requester, Department, conversation, attachments, workflow and reporting history. Use unlink when the relationship was created in error or is no longer useful; do not delete a ticket just to remove the link.
Verify both sides
After unlinking, reopen both ticket records from the Agent Queue and confirm the relationship is gone while both tickets remain otherwise unchanged.
Verify the result
- The relationship disappears from both Agent-side records.
- Both tickets remain otherwise intact with their original requester, conversation, workflow and reference.
