Customize QCST Frontend Design

This article explains the Frontend Design tab, design scopes, visual controls, and why functionality should be tested before appearance changes.

Where this fits in QC Support Ticket

Frontend Design and Frontend Text change presentation and wording only. They do not bypass customer ownership, Agent Department scope, ticket workflow, or server-side permissions, so functional testing should be completed before and after appearance changes.

Primary location: Joomla Administrator → Components → QC Support Ticket → Frontend Design.

How to do it

  1. Open the Frontend Design tab.
  2. Choose the frontend scope you intend to style instead of changing every surface blindly.
  3. Switch the scope from Use Defaults to Customize when you need scope-specific values, then adjust the available visual controls.
  4. Save Frontend Design.
  5. Test both customer Support Portal and Agent Queue functionality after visual changes, including narrow/mobile widths; styling should never hide required controls.

The three design scopes

ScopeEffect
Default Frontend DesignBase values used everywhere unless a specific frontend scope is set to Customize.
Customer Support PortalCustomer-facing workspace-specific design.
Agent QueueFrontend Agent workspace-specific design.

Control groups available in 1.0.42

GroupExamples
Page and TypographyBackground, font family, text sizes, line height, max width, padding and text colors.
Cards and SpacingSurfaces, borders, radius, card padding, section gaps and shadow strength.
Buttons and NavigationPrimary/secondary colors, hover states, radius, height and font size.
Forms and InputsInput colors/borders/focus, radius, height, font size and checkbox size.
Tables and Ticket ListsTable/KPI presentation controls.
Conversation and NoticesConversation/message, attachment, success and danger presentation controls.

A safe design workflow

  • Change one scope and one visual group at a time so you can identify which setting caused an issue.
  • Save, then inspect a real Support Portal or Agent Queue screen containing long text, forms, tables, messages and attachments—not an empty page only.
  • Check keyboard/focus visibility and contrast when changing button, input, success or danger colors.
  • Test a narrow viewport before accepting max-width, padding, table, button-height or font-size changes.
  • Keep functionality/authorization testing separate from appearance; visual settings should never be used to hide a control as a security measure.
