Troubleshoot QCST Installation, Missing Tables, or an Incomplete Package

This troubleshooting guide covers Joomla database repair, package/component/plugin completeness, the current 1.0.42 baseline, schema reconciliation, filesystem/administrator permissions, and when reinstalling is appropriate.

Where this fits in QC Support Ticket

Installation troubleshooting should separate Joomla core database/package problems from QCST package completeness. Preserve support data first, capture the exact installer/database error, and repair the narrow failing layer instead of uninstalling or dropping tables as a first step.

Primary location: QC Support Ticket frontend and administrator interfaces, depending on the permission or failure being tested.

Before you begin

  • Take a current backup and use a test or low-risk record first when the action can change or remove routing, relationships, or installed files.

Troubleshooting procedure

  1. Confirm you are using the complete current QCST 1.0.42 outer package, not a nested component ZIP by itself.
  2. In Joomla, open System → Maintenance → Database and use the database repair/update-structure function if Joomla reports schema mismatches.
  3. Verify the QCST component plus its packaged plugins are installed/enabled. A missing task/integration plugin can make an otherwise present component look incomplete.
  4. Open QCST Status and note any specific schema/plugin/task warning. Correct the named failure before reinstalling repeatedly.
  5. Prefer installing the current package over the existing installation. Do not uninstall first unless a specific recovery procedure truly requires it, because QCST is preservation-first.

Current-version note

This documentation is based on QC Support Ticket 1.0.42, the package currently deployed on the QuantaCade production site. The behavior described for Troubleshoot QCST Installation, Missing Tables, or an Incomplete Package should be checked against the current screen labels before applying instructions to an older QCST release.

Installation troubleshooting order

  1. Confirm the outer QCST package completed through Joomla Extensions and that Joomla reports the expected installed version.
  2. Open System → Maintenance → Database and correct Joomla core schema problems before blaming QCST for a core-table failure.
  3. Confirm the QCST component plus its packaged plugins are present/enabled and that the package was not partially extracted/uploaded.
  4. Open QCST Status and record the exact health/update/task messages.
  5. Compare the installed package with the current QuantaCade download; reinstall the same/current package only after preserving the database and identifying the incomplete file/plugin state.

Do not repair by deleting tables

Missing-table or installer errors should be diagnosed from the package/update SQL and Joomla database state. Manually dropping QCST/Joomla tables can turn a repairable package problem into permanent support-data loss. Take a database backup before any structural repair.

Verify the result

  • Repeat the test with the least-privileged normal role affected by the feature; do not rely only on Super User behavior.
