Close a Ticket as the Customer
This guide shows Ticket Actions > Close Ticket, what status behavior changes, and when closing is appropriate.
Where this fits in QC Support Ticket
The Support Portal is ownership-scoped. Registered users work their own tickets; verified guests use a signed, expiring verification/access path for the specific guest ticket. Department choice also controls which scoped Categories and Ticket Fields are offered during intake.
Primary location: QC Support Ticket frontend Support Portal.
Before you begin
- Use a normal customer/guest test flow as well as administrator checks so ownership and verification behavior are tested under the same permissions customers use.
How to do it
- Open the customer ticket and locate Ticket Actions.
- Choose Close Ticket when no further support work is needed.
- Confirm the action if prompted.
- Verify the ticket now shows the configured closed behavior/title. Closing does not erase its timeline or attachments.
What closing does
From the customer ticket detail page, the Ticket Actions area presents Close Ticket while the ticket is open. The action records a system timeline event and moves the ticket into its closed workflow state; it does not erase the conversation, attachments, requester, or routing history.
Customer test
- Open an eligible ticket while signed in as its registered customer.
- Use Close Ticket in Ticket Actions.
- Reload the ticket and confirm the closed state/system entry.
- Confirm the action area now offers the reopen path rather than another close action.
When the customer should close a ticket
Closing is appropriate when the requester no longer needs support on the issue. It should not be used to hide a message or remove an attachment, because the ticket history is intentionally preserved. If the problem returns and the portal offers Reopen Ticket, the customer can continue the same case instead of creating an unnecessary duplicate.
