Uninstalling QCTNH Safely

Uninstalling QCTNH removes the Joomla extension package and makes a best-effort attempt to deregister the current canonical installation from the QuantaCade wake-up service.

Before uninstalling

  • Confirm you no longer depend on QCTNH wake-ups for time-sensitive Scheduled Tasks.
  • If the site has no separate server cron, decide how Joomla Scheduler will be triggered after removal.
  • Take a current backup if the removal is part of a broader maintenance change.

Uninstall procedure

  1. Open System → Manage → Extensions and locate the QCTNH package.
  2. Uninstall the QC Task Nudge & Health package rather than removing individual files manually.
  3. Joomla runs the package/component uninstall hooks. QCTNH attempts signed deregistration only when the current origin matches the stored registered origin, which prevents a clone from deregistering the original site.
  4. If QuantaCade is unreachable, uninstall still completes; the code explicitly treats remote deregistration as best effort.
  5. After removal, verify your alternative scheduler trigger—Lazy Scheduler or server cron—still meets the site’s needs.

What QCTNH does not do during uninstall

It does not deliberately disable Joomla’s Lazy Scheduler settings. Native Joomla Scheduled Tasks remain Joomla data; removing QCTNH removes the reliability assistant, not the Scheduler component itself.

Administration note

Uninstalling QCTNH Safely should be evaluated from the current 2.0.3 administrator interface, not from older QCTNH builds that used development-era task mechanisms. The present product has only About, Support, Status, and Dashboard tabs and intentionally relies on native Joomla WebCron.

That matters when comparing screenshots or older notes: the absence of a QCTNH-created Scheduled Task is expected, not evidence that installation failed. Upgrade cleanup explicitly removes the retired round-trip test task/plugin when remnants are found.
