How Upgrades Remove the Retired QCTNH Round-Trip Test Task

QCTNH 2.0.3 upgrade logic removes the retired development-only qctasknudge.roundtrip_test Scheduled Task/plugin so current installations use native Joomla WebCron rather than a legacy QCTNH test task.

What the cleanup removes

  • Scheduler task rows whose type is qctasknudge.roundtrip_test.
  • The old task/qctasknudge plugin when it is present as a retired component of earlier/development builds.

Why it is removed

Current QCTNH does not need its own Scheduled Task to “test” itself. The production architecture registers Joomla’s native System - Schedule Runner WebCron endpoint and lets Joomla select ordinary eligible tasks.

Administrator implication

Do not recreate the retired task if you notice it disappeared after upgrade. Its absence is expected. Diagnostics now use Dashboard Check WebCron/Test Connection and actual native WebCron behavior.

Operational limits are deliberate

The constraints documented in How Upgrades Remove the Retired QCTNH Round-Trip Test Task—public origin, standard ports, exact Joomla route, no CLI-only execution through WebCron, bounded retries, and no automatic stale-lock clearing—are safety/reliability design choices rather than missing configuration switches.

A workload outside those boundaries should use the appropriate Joomla/server mechanism instead of trying to make QCTNH bypass the task author’s or network’s execution model.
