How QCTNH Integrates with Joomla's Extension Updater

QCTNH integrates with Joomla’s standard extension updater instead of implementing a separate downloader, so update discovery and installation remain visible in Joomla’s normal update tooling.

How the integration is registered

  • The QCTNH package synchronizes a canonical update-site record named QC Task Nudge & Health Updates.
  • The endpoint identifies the product with product_code=qc-task-nudge and returns Joomla update XML.
  • The update site is associated with the package extension record so Joomla knows which installed extension it serves.
  • If duplicate QCTNH update sites are present, the synchronization logic keeps the canonical record enabled and disables duplicates rather than leaving competing sources active.

What administrators gain

QCTNH can be discovered from its Status tab and from Joomla’s normal System → Update → Extensions workflow. That means cache refresh, minimum stability, update records, permissions, and installation behavior follow Joomla conventions.

What this integration does not do

It does not change the Task Nudge service registration, WebCron key, or scheduler queue. Updating software and waking Scheduled Tasks are independent functions.
