Updating QCTNH from the Status Tab

When Joomla reports a newer QCTNH package and the administrator has installer-management permission, the Status tab can hand the update to Joomla’s normal extension updater.

Location: Joomla Administrator → Components → QC Task Nudge & Health → Status.

Update procedure

  1. Run Check for Updates and confirm Available version is newer than Installed version.
  2. Back up the site according to your normal change policy.
  3. Select Update QC Task Nudge & Health.
  4. Allow Joomla Installer to download and install the package. Do not interrupt the request.
  5. Return to QCTNH Status and verify the Installed version changed.
  6. Open Dashboard and confirm Connected/WebCron/Health remain normal.

What upgrade scripts preserve or repair

The package/component upgrade path preserves normal QCTNH service data, resynchronizes the canonical update site, enables required plugins, ensures native Joomla WebCron configuration, and attempts registration synchronization. It also cleans up the retired development-only qctasknudge.roundtrip_test task/plugin if remnants exist.

Joomla remains the update authority

Even when QCTNH exposes Updating QCTNH from the Status Tab from its own Status tab, it delegates update discovery/installation to Joomla’s Installer Update model. Joomla permissions, cache, minimum stability, and extension-update records therefore still determine what can be seen and installed.

If QCTNH and Joomla’s System → Update → Extensions disagree, refresh the Joomla update data and inspect its error before assuming the QCTNH package itself is damaged.
