Using the QCTNH About Tab

The About tab explains QCTNH’s operating model: Joomla remains in control of Scheduled Tasks while QCTNH supplies visibility and an external native-WebCron wake-up path for quiet sites.

Location: Joomla Administrator → Components → QC Task Nudge & Health → About.

What the About tab establishes

  • Quiet-site problem: Joomla Scheduled Tasks can wait for a trigger after their due time when normal traffic is sparse.
  • Joomla remains the executor: QCTNH does not select or invoke a particular task ID. A wake-up reaches Joomla WebCron and Joomla applies its own queue and locking rules.
  • Lazy Scheduler can coexist: QCTNH does not disable or rewrite Joomla’s Lazy Scheduler settings. Visitor-driven execution and external wake-ups can both be available.
  • Free service: the product is not a licensed tier or subscription-gated feature; the current edition includes all QCTNH capabilities.

When to use this page

Use About when onboarding another administrator, documenting why the extension is installed, or confirming that a troubleshooting plan is aimed at the correct layer. If somebody expects QCTNH to run a named backup task directly, the About model is the first correction: QCTNH wakes Joomla; Joomla decides what runs.

Keep update/support state separate from scheduler state

Using the QCTNH About Tab belongs to QCTNH’s administrator/support/update layer. The Status tab’s update connection uses Joomla Installer and QuantaCade’s update XML endpoint; the Dashboard connection uses the Task Nudge service registration and native WebCron. One can fail while the other remains healthy.

Use the tab that corresponds to the problem so a software-update issue does not lead you to rotate a working WebCron credential or service identity unnecessarily.

Use the About tab

  1. Open Components → QC Task Nudge & Health → About.
  2. Read the explanation of quiet-site scheduling and the native WebCron wake-up model.
  3. Confirm your operational plan matches the documented boundary: QCTNH wakes Joomla and Joomla selects the task.
  4. Return to Dashboard for actual health/service controls; About is explanatory and does not change settings.
