Reviewing an Updated Laboratory Manually

Manual laboratory review is the administrator’s acceptance step: QCUL can detect technical symptoms, but only you know which real workflows must remain correct on this site.

Step-by-step procedure

  1. Open the tested update row and use the laboratory review link.
  2. Check the public frontend, navigation, login/logout, representative content, forms, templates, and assets affected by the update.
  3. Open the laboratory administrator and verify the updated extension/core version plus relevant dashboards/list/edit screens.
  4. Look for PHP warnings, blank pages, broken CSS/JS, redirects, permission errors, and missing resources.
  5. Run any site-specific smoke/integration tests that matter to your installation.
  6. Return to the tested update row and record the review confirmation only after the site behaves acceptably.

Use the update scope to guide review

For a small extension update, concentrate on the extension’s frontend/admin views plus shared template/login/navigation behavior it touches. For Joomla core, broaden the review across authentication, menus, editing, media, forms, mail, cache, extensions, templates, and Scheduled Tasks.

Record review only after testing

The production-readiness workflow checks the explicit “I reviewed this update in the laboratory” confirmation. Do not use that checkbox as a way to bypass a warning you have not investigated.

Read evidence in context

Use Reviewing an Updated Laboratory Manually together with the other evidence for the same tested item. A version check, route check, log message, screenshot, or file/database diff is strongest when it agrees with the surrounding evidence and your own reproduction in the private laboratory; no single signal should be treated as universal compatibility proof.
