Checking for QC Update Laboratory Updates

The Status tab can ask Joomla/QuantaCade update metadata whether a newer QC Update Laboratory package is available without changing the site.

Location: Joomla Administrator → Components → QC Update Laboratory → Status.

Step-by-step procedure

  1. Open Components → QC Update Laboratory → Status.
  2. Select Check for Updates.
  3. Review Installed Version, Latest Available Version, update-site status, and the result of the last check.
  4. If an update is available, read the version information before choosing whether to install it.

Read the result correctly

A successful check distinguishes the installed QCUL version from the latest available package and also reveals whether the configured QCUL update site is missing or disabled. “Up to date” means no newer QCUL package is currently offered; it says nothing about the Joomla core or third-party updates shown later in Laboratory → Test Updates.

If the update site needs attention

Use Joomla’s Update Sites/Extensions management to verify the QC Update Laboratory update source is present and enabled. Do not add a download key: 1.01.14 is the free edition and the current update URL does not require a license credential.

Practical administration note

For Checking for QC Update Laboratory Updates, make changes from the live Joomla administrator and verify the result in the same QCUL tab before starting laboratory work. QCUL’s streamlined 1.01.14 interface intentionally hides developer storage paths, raw batch controls, licensing fields, and retired management screens; do not look for those older controls as part of the current procedure.
