Preparing a Joomla Site Before the First Laboratory

A safe first laboratory starts with a production site that is understood, backed up, and healthy enough that test results can be interpreted.

Preparation checklist

  • Create and verify a complete external backup of production files and database.
  • Confirm the live site is already functioning normally; do not use QCUL to diagnose a production site that is broadly broken.
  • Check available disk/database capacity for a private copy plus temporary evidence/package/checkpoint data.
  • Confirm Joomla update sites are healthy and the intended update is legitimately offered.
  • Use conservative Settings defaults: 3-day lab, Standard creation speed, 30-minute temporary rollback window.
  • Choose a low-risk extension update for the first end-to-end rehearsal.

Understand the privacy boundary

The laboratory is a direct production-derived copy and may contain real users, orders, tickets, submissions, files, and secrets. QCUL isolates access and side effects; it does not claim generalized data sanitization. Treat the lab and its reports as sensitive production data.

Define your review

Before testing, know which frontend routes, administrator screens, forms, integrations, login paths, and scheduled jobs matter for the selected update. Automated checks are intentionally not a substitute for that human acceptance decision.

Practical administration note
