Updating QC Update Laboratory Through Joomla

When QCUL itself has an available package update, use Joomla’s normal package updater rather than trying to rehearse the running QCUL package inside its own private laboratory.

Location: Joomla Administrator → Components → QC Update Laboratory → Status.

Step-by-step procedure

  1. Open QC Update Laboratory → Status.
  2. Run Check for Updates if the available version is stale or unknown.
  3. When an update is available and your account can manage Joomla Installer, select Update QC Update Laboratory.
  4. Allow Joomla Installer to complete the package update.
  5. Return to QCUL Status and confirm the Installed Version changed and the update site remains healthy.

After the package update

  1. Return to QC Update Laboratory → Status and confirm the new Installed Version.
  2. Open the five administrator tabs and confirm the component loads normally.
  3. Open Joomla Scheduled Tasks and verify the three QCUL operational task types still exist with the intended administrator schedules/states.
  4. If an active laboratory predates a substantial QCUL runtime change, refresh it before relying on new test/push behavior so the lab receives the current runtime/protections.

Preservation expectation

Package upgrades are designed to preserve current laboratories, packages, checkpoints, reports, and operational settings where compatible. A normal QCUL package update should not be treated as permission to wipe active test evidence.

Practical administration note

For Updating QC Update Laboratory Through Joomla, make changes from the live Joomla administrator and verify the result in the same QCUL tab before starting laboratory work. QCUL’s streamlined 1.01.14 interface intentionally hides developer storage paths, raw batch controls, licensing fields, and retired management screens; do not look for those older controls as part of the current procedure.
