Choosing a Temporary QCUL Production Rollback Checkpoint

The temporary QCUL checkpoint option creates a short-lived, operation-scoped production restore point before installation so the tested push can be undone from QCUL during the configured window.

Step-by-step procedure

1. In the tested update’s production protection controls, choose Create a temporary QCUL rollback checkpoint.
2. Confirm the configured Undo Production Push window in Settings is appropriate.
3. Select Push to Production and allow checkpoint creation/validation to complete before installation begins.
4. Do not interrupt the checkpoint phase unless the UI reports a safe paused/attention state.
5. After a successful push, use Undo Production Push only while the checkpoint remains valid and no newer production operation supersedes it.

Production does not change until it is valid

Checkpoint capture/validation occurs before the tested package is installed. If checkpoint creation fails, QCUL stops rather than changing production without the protection you selected.

It is intentionally temporary

The checkpoint expires after the configured 10–240 minute window and is removed with the laboratory. Keep a real full-site backup regardless.

Production change rule
