How QCUL Preserves Administrator Task Schedules and Disabled States

QCUL does not overwrite a valid administrator-selected task schedule or deliberately disabled canonical task simply because its packaged default differs.

Preserved configuration

• Existing valid execution_rules/cron_rules JSON.
• Canonical task enabled/disabled state.
• Administrator cadence choices represented by valid rules.

What QCUL can still repair

It can normalize the task type/title/note, fill invalid/missing rule containers, create a missing task, set next_execution when invalid, and disable duplicate rows so one canonical task remains authoritative.

Operational implication

If you disable a QCUL maintenance task intentionally, document why. QCUL will not simply turn it back on, so unattended cleanup/safety behavior can remain off until you re-enable it.

Example

If you change Orphan Scan from its packaged daily cadence to a valid weekly schedule, QCUL should preserve that administrator schedule. If its rule JSON later becomes malformed, integrity repair can replace the invalid rule container with a sane definition without treating every normal custom schedule as corruption.

Scheduled-task verification

After changing or repairing How QCUL Preserves Administrator Task Schedules and Disabled States, verify the canonical task row in System → Scheduled Tasks: enabled/disabled state, Last Execution, Next Execution, and Last Exit Code. Registration alone does not prove the maintenance routine runs; Joomla Scheduler still needs Lazy Scheduler or server cron to trigger due work.
