Understanding the Username and Display Name Shown in the Banner explains the current QCUI 1.0.03 behavior and how it affects a Super User who needs to inspect the Joomla frontend as an eligible user.

Banner content

The floating banner displays Impersonating username (Display Name) using the active target identity. It also contains the End impersonation button.

Treat the banner as a safety indicator

Before clicking a sensitive frontend action, confirm the username is the account you intended to test. If the current identity no longer matches the stored target ID, QCUI clears the impersonation flags rather than continuing to show a misleading banner.

No hidden mode

A successful support session is meant to be obvious to the administrator using it. QCUI does not intentionally hide impersonation state from that support tab.

Session-safety check

After working with Understanding the Username and Display Name Shown in the Banner, verify the identities explicitly: the support frontend should show the expected target while active, End impersonation should make that frontend guest, and the original administrator tab should remain the authenticated Super User. Any result that collapses those identities together should be investigated before further use.
